Gaponova Natalya Mikhailovna, technology teacher at MKOU "Secondary School No. 29" in the city of Revda, Sverdlovsk region
Job description: The master class is intended for technology teachers, educators additional education, children aged 13-18 and their parents who want to try their hand at working with various materials and decorate the interior of the apartment with interesting New Year’s works.

Purpose: The product can be used as a gift for New Year's celebrations, as well as as decoration for the interior of an apartment, classroom, or any room.
The purpose of the teacher’s activity: Develop creative thinking, perception, accuracy. Follow safe work rules.

So, let's start creating!

Christmas wreaths are an interesting and versatile decorative element. It can be used to decorate almost any room or object, since the wreath can be hung or simply placed on a flat surface.
We owe the appearance of the Advent wreath to the Lutheran theologian Johann Hinrich Wichern. As the story goes, he mentored several orphans in the early 19th century. The theological expert in every possible way expanded the children’s knowledge in the field of theology, and to make religious dogmas easier for them to perceive, he came up with various “visual aids.” To count the days of fasting before Christmas, he came up with a wreath, or rather, it was an ordinary wheel on which candles were placed (a kind of prototype of the future Advent wreath), which served as calendar days - small candles were lit on weekdays, and large ones on weekends.

So, once upon a time the Advent wreath replaced the calendar, and after a significant amount of time, it turned into a symbolic and beautiful attribute of the New Year holidays.

They began to decorate the Christmas wreath in every possible way - with fir branches, New Year's toys, ribbons, etc. And also, he changed the location - now not only tables are decorated with wreaths, but they are also hung on doors and windows. Thus, maintaining the symbol status winter holidays, the Christmas wreath has completely lost its original purpose and meaning.

There are no restrictions in creating Christmas wreaths, and within the same apartment wreaths made in different techniques and from absolutely different materials.

To make our New Year's wreath we will need:

1. Thick cardboard for making a circle.

2. Old unnecessary magazines, newspapers to create the volume of the wreath.

3. Artificial spruce branches, New Year's balls of different diameters, satin ribbons, New Year's beads, fir cones, a glue gun and glue sticks for it, masking tape, green corrugated paper and various New Year's elements.

Stages of work:

1. We prepare cones. We select by size (this depends on the radius of the wreath), if the radius is large (25-30 cm), then the cones are larger, if the radius is small (18-23 cm), then the cones are smaller. Coloring the pine cones acrylic paint(spray can).

2. Decide on the radius of the wreath. Cut out a circle from thick cardboard, as shown in the photo above. We fold an accordion out of old magazines or newspapers and glue it tightly to the circle.

3. In this way we fill the entire circle.

4. Wrap this blank tightly with masking tape.

5. Then we wrap the workpiece with green corrugated paper.

6. Strengthen the hanger. This could be some kind of decorative loop or satin ribbon. In my case it was a satin ribbon.

7. We begin to fill the circle with spruce branches. We glue the twig so that part of the twig looks to the side, and the other part is tightly glued to the circle. Glue with a glue gun.

8. Gradually fill the outer and inner circle of the wreath.

9. Fill the circle with spruce branches so that there is room in the center for decorative elements.

10. We begin to decorate the wreath. Glue cones and New Year's balls of different diameters.

11. It is important not to overload the wreath with various elements, but this is a matter of taste...

12. I made wreaths as gifts for all my family and friends, this is what I came up with!

13. If the wreath is not made of spruce branches, then the color corrugated paper maybe not green, but to match the color of your wreath, as in my case the paper was pink.

Good afternoon. Today I have put together - in one article - several ways to make Christmas wreaths with your own hands. I'll show you how to make the base of a Christmas wreath - not necessarily from willow twigs or spruce legs (not all city dwellers have this material) - so here you will see alternative bases for New Year's wreaths- from newspaper, fabric, toilet paper rolls and other suitable material.

So let's get started.

INTRODUCTION…

How to make a BASE RING

for a Christmas wreath.

Let's approach our question in order. First, let's figure out what the BASICS are for New Year's Eve. What are the ways to MAKE such a base ring with your own hands? And then we’ll start decorating the finished bases.

Here are the basics for Christmas wreaths we will look at.

  1. Paper flat base for a wreath (+ ways to decorate wreaths on this basis)
  2. Volumetric base for a wreath from newspaper or toilet paper
  3. Wicker ring for wreath(made of straw or willow twigs)
  4. New Year's wreaths with foam ring base.
  5. And then I will show you how to make decorations for wreaths with your own hands.

OPTION #1

from FLAT CARDBOARD

WHERE TO GET. Take a large piece of cardboard (a large pizza box would be ideal). Or you can take large gray packaging boxes (lying freely available near the back entrance of any grocery store). You can ask at the store (they will gladly give you for a chocolate bar). You can ask the caretaker at your work - he has a basement full of so much stuff.

WHAT TO DO. Place a large dish on a sheet of cardboard. We trace with a pencil. Place a small saucer on the center of the drawn circle. We check with a ruler that the edge of the saucer is at the same distance from the large circle to the west, north, east, south. We also outline with a pencil.

We cut out our flat donut from cardboard with scissors. We take white toilet paper and wrap our future Christmas wreath. Or a lace ribbon (this will cost more money). And then we decorate the Christmas wreath... this will be discussed below in our article.

DECOR OPTIONS

Advent wreath with a flat base.

DECOR of a New Year's wreath - WITH THREAD AND FELT.

We wrap the cardboard base with threads. We twist roses from felt and sew them onto a thread winding. We cut out the shape of a Christmas tree from salt dough and sculpt houses (we press windows into them). In some places we sew Christmas balls in the same color as the overall palette.

The DECOR of the New Year's wreath is from an old SWEATER.

If you have a sweater lying among your old things for a long time. Then you can cut off two sleeves from it and decorate the flat base of the wreath with them. For this purpose, each cut sleeve rip along the longitudinal seam– open – wrap the base ring around the circle and again sew the same seam.

We do the same with the second sleeve - and we direct the end of the second sleeve to the top of the first sleeve - so that this the cut off top was hidden inside the neat elastic band of the counter sleeve. Next, such a flat knitted base can be decorated with snowflakes, ribbons, and even skates (or any Christmas tree decorations).

DECOR of a New Year's wreath - with Ribbons

For example, you can paste over this cardboard circle with corners made from pieces of fabric (or paper). Cut the fabric into triangles - fold each triangle in half twice. And glue it onto a cardboard circle. First, we place triangles on the outer edge of the circle, then on top, closer to the middle, then another row closer to the middle, and the last row along the inner circle of the cardboard blank for the Christmas wreath.

DECOR of the New Year's wreath is made of PAPER.

You can also cover such a flat donut for a Christmas wreath with pieces cut out of paper. Paper bags, paper stars.

You don't have to cut a hole in the cardboard ring. And make a wreath from gift paper and Christmas balls. We see in the photo below that the gift paper is cut into rectangles. Each is rolled into a tube and glued to a paper circle - radially, with a small distance between the tubes.

We fill this distance with smaller tubes. And fill the middle with balls. We string the balls on a wire - we get a bunch of large and small Christmas balls. We make 2 holes in the center of the cardboard. We insert the ends of the wire into the holes, and wrong side twist it, forming a loop by which this vein can be hung.

You can cut pieces of music paper, roll them into tubes and cover them with a foam ring. You will get such an elegant wreath.

DECOR of the New Year's wreath is made of pine cones.

The same flat cardboard donut for a Christmas wreath can be painted. And immediately start covering it with the prepared material - spruce paws, fir branches, paper tinsel, Christmas tree garland or forest cones (as in the photo below). We attach the cones to polyurethane foam or hot glue from a glue gun.

The decor for a flat wreath is made of chopped branches.

WHERE TO GET. This option is suitable for summer residents or villagers. We need branches (remaining after pruning an apple tree, for example). A city dweller can also stock up on three or four thick branches (trees are also pruned in the city).

WHAT TO DO. We chop the branches with an ax or saw them with a jigsaw. Cut out a ring from cardboard (from an old box). And now we will place pieces of our stumps in a chaotic order on this ring. We coat each piece with glue before laying.

WHAT GLUE IS SUITABLE?- shoe glue in tubes, or hot glue from a glue gun ($3 at a hardware store) Or a can of polyurethane foam also glues well.

We overlap and glue the pieces into several layers. Let's dry it. And cover it with white paint WHAT PAINT IS SUITABLE- you can buy acrylic paint at a hardware store ($1.5 per liter). You can buy paint in a spray can (this is much more expensive). You can dilute white gouache with PVA glue and paint with a wide brush or a foam sponge for washing dishes (very convenient). And then such a white wreath can be decorated with bright accessories.

DECOR of the New Year's wreath - natural material.

You can place nuts, cones, pieces of moss, twigs, sticks - any natural material - on a cardboard circle.

DECOR of a New Year's wreath - with Christmas BALLS.

In the same way, Christmas balls of various diameters can be placed on a flat cardboard circle. Attach with glue from a glue gun. You can add strings of bugles and Christmas tree beads to the balls.

Christmas wreath ring

OPTION #2

FROM WIRE.

And since we’ve come to wreaths made of Christmas balls, this type of material (Christmas tree decorations) can be attached to another base for wreaths - to a wire ring.

In the photo below we see how we twist a ring from ordinary wire. And then we hang bundles of Christmas balls on it. By the same principle as onion bulbs are hung in a braid, when they are linked together into a garland and hung from the ceiling in the kitchen.

A variety of decorative materials can be attached to such a wire ring.

For example (photo below), we can take ordinary foam balls, pin them on pieces of wire, wind each wire tail to a common wreath ring and cover everything together with silver spray paint.

You can do it even simpler - make a fluffy New Year's wreath - tie many, many strips cut from paper napkins(or from white airy fabric). Like the Christmas wreath from the photo below.

Ring for New Year's wreath

OPTION #3

FROM THE NEWSPAPER

You can make flagella-twigs from sheets of newspaper. And roll a wreath from such newspaper branches - just like from twigs. We also make flower decorations from newspaper.

We roll the sheets of newspaper into a tube. Let's take it new leaf and place our tube on the edge of this new sheet and wrap it in this sheet. It turns out that the tube is almost 2 times longer. We place it on the edge of a new sheet and also wrap it in a roll (we get a tube 3 times longer). We continue until we have a tube long enough to bend into a large ring for an Advent wreath. We wrap the tube with rope and roll it into rings - we supplement the thickness with new layers of newspaper and wrap it with rope again. At the end you can wrap everything in white toilet paper or with tape or bandage.

You can also do wreath decor MADE OF FABRIC. For example, cut fabric into squares. Fold each one in half and sew the side and bottom seams - we get a mini-bag. We put cotton wool (or padding polyester) in it and sew up the top seam. We tie the middle of the bag with a ribbon - and we have a plump bow. We tie these bows to the wreath ring.

Plump sweets are made from the same squares of fabric - here you don’t even need to make seams. Place the padding polyester, wrap it and wrap the ends of the “candy” with thread.

This newspaper base for a wreath is quite heavy (paper weighs a lot). Therefore, you can make a lightweight (hollow inside) model of the Christmas ring-base. Like the next idea...

Ring for New Year's wreath

OPTION #4

FROM ROLLS.

If we want to get a NOT HEAVY light base for a wreath, then to do this we string toilet paper rolls onto a rope (or wire). We place them on the table, level them so that they lie in the shape of a regular circle - we fix the rolls with pieces of tape, that is, we glue them to each other so that they do not move or spin on the rope and do not change their circular shape.

Then we make a newspaper wrap, or a medical bandage, or toilet paper, or tape, or masking tape.

Decor options for a Christmas wreath made from a LIGHT BASE. Such a wreath, which is hollow inside, can be attached to light jewelry made from felt or crocheted, small branches are thin and light, so that their weight does not distort the wreath or cause the empty rolls inside to crumple.

You can tie pieces of tulle on it. We buy tulle in different colors at a fabric store. We cut it into equal rectangles, long enough to wrap the ring around the wall, tie it in a knot, and leave the ends sticking out.

Also suitable paper decorations. Fans made of colored gift paper (or elegant table napkins). We make a fan from a strip of paper and unfold it into a ring.

Christmas wreath ring

OPTION #5

FROM FOAM.

WHERE TO GET. Foam rings for crafts are sold at craft stores. Enter “foam ring + name of your city” in the search bar of your laptop and you will find a store that sells similar things. Or you can order with delivery from China (for example, on the AliExpress website).

This ring is already ready for use. And you can come up with any winding for it. For example, coniferous or fir legs (as in the photo of the Christmas wreath below). We simply take branches of a live Christmas tree, or branches of an artificial Christmas tree, and tie them to the wreath. So if you want to throw away your old artificial Christmas tree, take your time - cut off the good, bald branches from it - they will be suitable for wrapping a wreath.

Can you do it on a Christmas wreath? simple FLOWERS FROM FABRIC.

It's very easy. The photo below shows how to quickly make this New Year's wreath with your own hands.

We buy wide tape, cut it into segments at an angle (see photo) - you get RHOMBES. We compress each rhombus in the middle(from obtuse angle sides) – rewind the compressed middle with a thread. It turns out 2 petals from one rhombus at once.

We repeat the same thing with two more diamonds- and we get three pairs of petals. We put them next to each other so that the wrapped centers of three rhombuses meet together (in the center of the flower) - we fix them with a thread winding so that all three middles stuck close to each other. We thread a needle into the end of the thread and sew several beads to the center of the flower to hide the rough part of the flower winding.

Using pins, we attach the flowers to the body of the foam wreath ring.

You can also use a foam ring cover with NATURAL MATERIAL . These may be inshell peanuts. They are inexpensive, we glue them with a glue gun to a foam ring (a glue gun is sold in any construction department of the store, it costs 3-4 dollars). And after the peanuts stick, we cover everything with gold spray paint.

You can also make a foam Christmas wreath from PINE SCALES. To do this, we recruit more fir cones, take pliers and tear out the scales from them. And then we smear a section of the foam wreath with a glue gun and lay the scales on it (like tiles) ... then we smear a new section and lay the next portion of scales. Painstakingly, slowly - but simply.

If you have some leftover plum jam after making bag of bones. Then he, too, can take part in creating a Christmas wreath.

You can go to the woodshed and gather some PIECES OF BARK. Break them into pieces of equal size and also paste them over the ring for the New Year's wreath (as was done in the photo below).

You can also use this foam ring for a wreath tie with SPOKES or CROCHET. And knit a lot of Christmas applique decorations for the wreath (as in the photo below).

Christmas wreath ring

OPTION #6

FROM STRAW.

Let's take it a bunch of straw - wrap it with thick thread (or thin wire). At the end of the beam we apply new bun– and we also do the winding with threads. Again, we take another bunch, apply it to the tail of the previous one (we bury it in the middle of the tail) and wind it with threads - as we work, we gradually set our straw tail in a circular direction.

We do repetitions until our curling straw tail closes into a ring. We cover the closure area with straw and also rewind it tightly with thread. Again We move the spool of thread around the entire donut, and as we move, we place plump straws in the thin places of the wreath.

And then along the way you can add a green branch of a bush or spruce paws, I also fix them with the same twine.

Ring for New Year's wreath

OPTION #7

FROM BRANCHES.

And now the most labor-intensive basis for the New Year's wreath. From twigs. There are also several auxiliary techniques for creating such a basis from branches. And I have collected all the ways and techniques by which a Christmas wreath is created from twigs and branches. Let's look at them in order.

Method of weaving a wreath No. 1– FROM FRESH BRANCHES.

The most important thing in a twig wreath is to ensure that it is a perfect circle. That is, it flattened into an oval. And it is also necessary that its thickness be uniform throughout the entire circumference of the ring - so that there is symmetry and harmony.

Therefore, to create a wreath correct form Need a SAMPLE CIRCLE. You should find some kind of guide round piece that will serve as a template for the round wreath.

In the photo below we see how a cut round laundry basket served as a convenient form for quickly creating a wreath. The bottom of the basket itself holds the twigs in the shape of a regular circle, and all you need to do is calmly and confidently place new twigs in the right places.

When the entire arrangement of branches along the wreath is evenly distributed, we tie it with threads in several places, or wrap the entire wreath with thread in a spiral. And our craft can be taken out of the basket.

The same can be done with the top cut part of the basket. Also used as a form-building limiter for wreath rods.

In this case, it also helps that all the branches have just been cut from the bush - so they are fresh and flexible. That is, they easily repeat the shape of a circle without breaking.

But what should we do if we only have dry branches that have become stale in their shape? To do this, the following method of laying branches will help us.

Method of weaving a wreath No. 2 - FROM DRY BRANCHES.

If we want to arrange dry, inflexible branches in a circle, then this is also possible. To do this, we again need a CIRCLE TEMPLATE - for the laying stencil. It can be cut out of cardboard, or drawn with chalk on the floor (circle a round basin with chalk, and put a round dish in the middle of the drawn circle, and also circle it with chalk). The circle template is ready.

Now we place all the dry twisted twigs in a chaotic mosaic within the boundaries of this sample circle. We arrange until we begin to like the outline of our future New Year's wreath.

And then we bandage it key points using threads, carefully inserting the thread between the branches, trying not to move them too much from their intended places. You can lay out pieces of thread on the circle template in advance, and then (after laying the branches) just lift the ends of the threads and tie them into knots. After this, you need to carefully lift the wreath and once again wrap the threads in a spiral - along the entire wreath.

Method of weaving a wreath No. 3 – FROM SHORT BRANCHES.

And if you only have short stick branches and twigs at your disposal, then you can make a wreath out of them too. This will work if you fix short sticks on a wire frame. Two pieces of wire (shorter and longer) and 4 sticks will help you make a frame.

We roll two pieces of wire into a ring - we get a larger and smaller ring.

We place the smaller one in the center of the larger one and tie the sticks on four sides (perpendicular to the center).

And now we tie sticks around the entire circumference of the rings, new sticks to these sticks, and so on until we get a nice branched wreath-base. All that remains is to decorate it and make it elegant for the New Year.

Method of weaving a wreath No. 4 – FROM WILLOW WANDS

Willow twigs are needed before work keep in water otherwise they will dry out and will not bend. They cut the rods, came home, and put them in a bucket of water with the cuts down, and twisted the ends into a bucket, bent them, and soaked them. Wet rods fold perfectly (like rubber bands). And then they dry in the wreath - and the wreath becomes stale.

After drying, you can PAINT it - with white gouache using a foam sponge. And paint over the unpainted cracks of the wreath with a brush (it gets into inaccessible places on the wreath). To prevent the gouache from staining your hands with white, spray the wreath on top with hairspray - this fixes the paint and adds shine.

If you take BIRCH BRANCHES, then you need to soak them in very bitter water. Using the same principle as a birch broom is steamed in a bathhouse. The twigs will become hot and flexible - and you will quickly twist them into a wreath base. Then dry and paint.

DECOR OPTIONS

for New Year's wreaths,

from branches and vines.

DECOR OPTION No. 1 – dough figures.

DECOR OPTION No. 3 – cobweb stars.

Look at the photo below. You see on the wreath there are two stars cut from a web of thread. like this It's easy to make a web yourself.

Take a plastic file. Pour a puddle of PVA glue onto it (you can also use silicate transparent glue). Take a spool of thread of the color you want the future spider web to look like. And we begin to unwind the spool and place the threads in the puddle of glue - in a chaotic manner. We try to arrange the threads so that there are no large holes in our homemade web. We leave it all to dry for a day (or overnight).

The next day, we easily separate our dried cobwebs from the file. On top of it we place a star stencil cut out of paper - and with scissors we cut the web, repeating the contours of the star. We get a beautiful decoration for the New Year's wreath.

Using the same principle, you can cut cobweb flowers for New Year's wreaths of delicate design.

DECOR OPTION No. 4 – knitted snowflakes.

Everything is clear here. For those who crochet. Let's take it. We knit. Starch the snowflake (so that it is hard and keeps its shape). We dry the starched snowflake in a straightened form - on thick cardboard, secured with pins at the spread.

We tie our hard starch snowflake to the wreath.

In addition to snowflakes, you can knit and starch bells. Dry them by placing them on yogurt jars.

DECOR OPTION No. 5 – felt crafts.

We buy felt. That is, wool from which yarn (threads) have not yet been made. Pour warm soapy water into a bowl. We take a piece of such wool, immerse it in a warm soapy solution and roll the ball with our hands for 5-7 minutes until it becomes round and hard. Let's dry it. We make several of these wool balls. And we get the decoration that we see in the photo of the Christmas wreath below.

We use the same wool-soap principle to make a rose. We mold flat petals from pieces of wool in soapy water. different sizes. We twist and sew them into a rose.

DECOR OPTION No. 6 – Balls and stars.

Here, too, everything is simple and clear. We thread wires into the ears of the balls and screw them to the selected wreath twig.

SHINY STARS. Cut out stars from cardboard. Also make the inside of the stars into openwork holes. Coat the stars with glue and dip them in glitter sprinkles . Sprinkles can be bought at a craft store. Or use half the nail polish. Or DO IT YOURSELF. To do this, we buy a shiny fluffy Christmas tree garland and trim it very finely (we get a whole bunch of small shiny cuts) - cheap and effective.

DECOR OPTION No. 7 – shiny flowers.

Here on the Christmas wreath (with the photo below) we see golden flowers. Of course they can be found on sale. Or you can avoid spending money and do it yourself. Now I’ll tell you how...

We take cotton pads. Cut from 5 cotton pads large petals. And 5 more small petals. Now pour PVA glue into a saucer - dip each cotton petal in the glue, squeeze out the excess glue - put the petals on a plastic file to form two five-petal flowers - large and small (we bend the petals in a raised state - let them dry like that). We dry them overnight. In the morning we take our 2 dried flowers and connect them - we glue the small flower into the middle of the large one. Next, use a brush to cover them with a thin layer of PVA glue and sprinkle them with gold sprinkles. We get these luxurious flowers to decorate a Christmas wreath. We made beauty with our own hands from cheap discs and chopped sprinkles from Christmas garland. Fast, simple and cheap.

DECOR OPTION No. 8 – natural material.

Below we see a photo of a Christmas wreath which is used to decorate birch bark (we wrap it around the wreath like a ribbon), the stars were cut out with scissors from the same bark.

Flowers roses made from corn husks— roll the corn cake into a roll, cut the parts of the roll with scissors, and form the petals with your hands.

Dried fruits (dried fruits are also good for compote). And sprigs of rowan or hawthorn. To prepare their bright fruits for the Christmas wreath It's better not to dry(they will wrinkle and lose their appearance) and mummify in paraffin or wax. To do this, we melt a candle cut into pieces in a saucepan (made of wax or paraffin - buy in the hardware department of the store) - and hot wax dip the fruits of rowan or hawthorn hanging by a thread. We dry it on the same thread (we put a tree branch in a vase and hang our bunches of fruits on it.

So that the pre-holiday bustle does not exhaust you, you need to complete all stages of preparation in a timely manner, for example, decorative decorating elements can be purchased in advance, and some of them can even be made yourself... Today’s review will present examples of festive New Year’s wreaths that can be made without much difficulty with my own hand! It should be noted that the tradition of decorating the interior with festive wreaths was borrowed by the residents of Russia from Western countries, where the celebration of Christmas and New Year is definitely not complete without this accessory!

DIY New Year's wreath.

Festive wreaths made of Christmas balls.

To recreate such a wreath, you should stock up on: thick wire, different-sized Christmas tree balls and a glue gun.

We form a ring from the wire without connecting the ends, take balls with holes for the thread and thread them one by one onto the wire, then use a glue gun to fix the balls in the desired location (the caps of the balls can also be treated with glue so that they do not slide off the product), in When finished, twist the ends of the wire and decorate the wreath with a ribbon, tinsel or bow.

How to make a New Year's wreath from plastic bags.

For work you will need: glue, cardboard, scissors, transparent plastic bags, bright ribbon or bow.

We cut out a base ring from cardboard, take the bags and cut them into strips 7-8 cm wide, after which we cut the resulting strip on both sides (leaving space in the center) into narrow strips (see diagram). After all the strips are prepared, take a cardboard ring base and gather the cut strips, glue them to the cardboard base, simultaneously forming the pomp of the product.

The diagram shows what a cardboard ring should be like. The diagram shows cutting paper into strips (the sheet remains intact in the middle).

New Year's wreath made of paper.

We cut out blank leaves from thick colored paper, and a base ring from cardboard, after which, using glue, we fix the cut out leaves on the cardboard surface (we glue the leaves overlapping).

DIY New Year's wreath made of paper roses.

Take a narrow strip (5 cm wide) of a suitable color of paper, bend it as in the diagram below, take a toothpick and twist a strip of paper onto it in the shape of a rose. You should also prepare several “horns” from paper of a different color; to do this, take a strip of paper, twist a cone, and cut off the excess. Next, we glue all the resulting blanks using a glue gun to the surface of the cardboard ring.

The diagram shows that the sheet of paper needs to be folded more than in half.

Wreath of gift bows.

We purchase the required number of multi-colored bows, which we then glue to a pre-prepared cardboard ring.

Festive wreath made of thin twigs.

We take flexible tree branches (for example, willows), weave them together, simultaneously forming a wreath, paint them from a spray can in a suitable shade, complement them with beads, ribbons, chains, and bows.

DIY Christmas wreath photo

A simple paper wreath.

We take a wide strip of colored paper, bend it in half, glue it, and cut it into non-through strips. Then we straighten the resulting volumetric product and glue it in the form of a wreath. Additionally, the product can be decorated with paper bows or hearts.

Button wreath.

We cut out a wide base-ring from cardboard, onto which we glue many buttons of different sizes.

New Year's wreaths photo

Wreath made from old ties.

We cut out the base in the form of a cardboard ring, onto which we glue the ends of the ties using a glue gun. Finally, the product can be complemented with a thin tie tied in the form of a bow.

Wreath made of paper horns.

We take multi-colored paper, you can take thick magazine pages. We cut the paper into strips, from which we form cones, which at the final stage we glue onto a cardboard ring base.

New Year's wreaths photo

Wreath made of wine corks.

Must be purchased large number wine corks, which are tightly joined to each other, glued to a base cut from plywood or very thick cardboard. Finally, the product can be complemented with bright flowers, ribbons, bows, and spruce branches.

Wreath of pine cones.

We glue the cones onto a thick cardboard base and complement the product with small bright Christmas balls.

It’s unlikely that anyone will remember now what a Christmas wreath made of spruce branches hung on the front door means, especially since in Russia the traditions and attributes of Christmas were replaced by New Year’s with Soviet overtones almost 100 years ago.

DIY Christmas wreaths

Initially, the Advent wreath was nothing more than a calendar! And on the eve of Christmas, Hamburg theologian Johann Hinrich Wicher came up with the idea of lighting a small red candle on a spruce wreath every morning, symbolizing the weekday, and a large white one, meaning Sunday. The fact is that his young children constantly asked their father when Christmas would come. That is why he decided to put such an unusual calendar on the table, which later became one of the symbols of the holiday, moving to the front door to greet guests.

But despite the fact that this decoration is currently considered Western, Russian needlewomen are gradually mastering its production, not only using conventional techniques and from familiar materials, but also from everything their heart desires.

Christmas wreath made of branches

An Advent wreath made from conifer branches is a traditional version of this holiday decoration.

If you have doubts about which branches are best and most correct to make a Christmas wreath from, then there really are no strict regulations here, simply because the tradition of making a wreath has undergone significant changes several times during its existence.

From cardboard we cut out a ring of the size that our future wreath will be. Next you need to make the frame three-dimensional, for this you will need thick paper. Squeezing and twisting the paper, we tie it with twine or wire to a cardboard ring. The structure should turn out to be quite dense and even, so you should additionally run a rope along its entire diameter, tightening and compacting the paper.

  • Then attach the branches to the frame.

The spruce branch must be disassembled into shorter ones and then each of them must be attached with wire, rope or glue of your choice to the frame. The branches should be attached in the same direction, and the white spaces should be immediately filled in to make the structure look more natural and beautiful.

  • Finally, you need to decorate the wreath.

To decorate a Christmas wreath you can choose from:

  • cones;
  • New Year's balls;
  • walnut shells;
  • dried rowan berries;
  • satin ribbons, etc.

You can decorate the wreath with anything you like. The main thing is to decide on the color scheme in advance (usually spruce branches decorated in red color scheme), and do not overdo it, leaving the opportunity to admire the needles that you so diligently attached to the frame. Also, do not forget that all parts must be glued literally tightly for safety reasons, especially if there are small children in the house.

The option of making a Christmas wreath on a cardboard ring is not the only one possible. Perhaps for some it will seem more acceptable and simple way make a wreath on a wire frame.

For such a wreath you will need:

  • wire, for example aluminum;
  • branches of a coniferous plant;
  • rope or thin wire;
  • glue gun;
  • elements for decoration.

Procedure for making a wire-based wreath:

  • We twist the wire into a ring of the required diameter. Depending on the softness of the wire, we wrap it one or several times to make the structure rigid.
  • We begin to attach the spruce branches with thin wire or rope to a frame made of thick wire. The branches are attached in one direction, for example, clockwise, and overlapping. The more branches there are, the richer and more beautiful the wreath itself will be.
  • We decorate the resulting wreath with any decorations of your choice, not forgetting to attach them with a glue gun for reliability.

Only cardboard or only wire frames may not be very strong or too flexible, so you can use an option that combines the advantages of each of them to make a frame for a Christmas wreath.

Christmas wreaths made from scrap materials

Losing its original meaning over time, the Christmas wreath acquires more and more new designs, which sometimes seem to no longer have anything in common with either New Year or Christmas.

Only the shape of the circle remains unchanged, without which the wreath would cease to be one.

In addition to the calendar designation of the expectation of the birth of Christ, the wreath acquired new meanings that stemmed from its round shape. A wreath lying on a table with four candles was associated with the globe and the designated cardinal directions. In addition, the circle is a symbol of the wheel or eternal life, which will be given by the Resurrection of Christ.

One way or another, there are many options for making this Christmas decoration, each of which is easy to repeat yourself and then decorate your home for the holiday.

From tinsel

A Christmas wreath made of tinsel most closely resembles a wreath made of spruce branches, and therefore is in second place in preference for making this festive idea.

To make such a wreath, you will need to make a frame according to one of the options described above, namely based on a cardboard or wire ring. Whatever frame you choose, it will need to be reinforced with newspapers so that the wreath is voluminous and creates the illusion of a magnificent decoration.

Then you need to literally wrap the base with tinsel, avoiding any gaps, and in order for the rain to stick well, secure its ends to the wreath frame with liquid nails (a glue gun). After the base is decorated with tinsel, you can attach any decorations you like. Usually they use red satin ribbons and balls on a green background.

From the cones

To make a wreath of pine cones you will need:

  • cardboard and newsprint for the frame;
  • cones of any size;
  • glue gun;
  • cans of spray paint if desired.

To make a Christmas wreath from pine cones at home, you need to cut out a ring from cardboard, the diameter of which corresponds to the future wreath. By twisting, attach the newspaper sheets to the cardboard ring, creating volume. And then you need to glue the cones to the resulting base one by one so that there are no gaps left. Small round cones should be attached close to each other, oblong cones should be glued overlapping, just like spruce branches. If desired, the finished wreath or each cone individually can be spray painted with gold, white or silver paint before gluing. Of course, a Christmas wreath based on pine cones can also be made with other elements, for example, ribbons or dried rowan berries.

From candy

A Christmas wreath made of candies is practically no different in design from a wreath made of pine cones. The main task in making it is to stock up on enough of your favorite candies and glue them to the frame so that they are easy to unwrap and eat. That is why in this case, candies in foil and those with a candy wrapper tied on top of the pyramid candy are best suited.

From paper

A paper Christmas wreath can be made in several ways:

  • String mugs, for example, from corrugated, on a wire frame. The more details are strung and the lighter and more delicate the paper from which they are made, the more airy and delicate the wreath looks.
  • Glue the paper elements onto the frame, like you did before with pine cones or candies. Such a wreath is notable for the fact that paper figures can depict anything, forming together, for example, a biblical story.
  • Cover the purchased foam frame with one layer of, say, newspaper and attach several paper flowers or other details. This wreath looks very conceptual and will perfectly complement the designer interior of a modern young man’s city apartment.

From Christmas balls

From Christmas balls Making a Christmas wreath is probably the easiest thing to do. For this you will need:

  • wire and a tool for bending it (for example, pliers);
  • glue gun;
  • a large number of Christmas balls of different sizes.

How to make a balloon wreath:

  • For safety reasons and for the strength of the structure, it is worth gluing Christmas balls at the junction with the metal suspension. This way the ball will be guaranteed to be attached to the wire and will not fall or break at the most inopportune moment.
  • Then you need to round the wire, but do not rush to connect it into a ring.
  • We begin to string the balls on the wire, like beads on a thread, with the only difference that there should be a lot of balls and they should all “look” in different directions, making the wreath “lush.” When all the balls are strung, we make a coupling from the ends of the wire, similar to a loop in a chain. You can cover it with a bow from satin ribbon. The wreath is ready!

Rustic style

If you are planning to hang a Christmas wreath in a country style interior, then you can use this option.

For this design, you can use natural materials: burlap, cones, jute ropes.

The base of such a wreath can be made from a cardboard circle or from wire twisted to a certain diameter.

If you are working with cardboard, then simply glue small pieces of burlap onto it, folded as in the photo. You can also make the decor a solid canvas by making drapery from burlap and gluing it in the right places.

If your wreath is made of wire, then you can use padding polyester (or ordinary newspapers) to wrap and add volume, on top of which you can twist strips of burlap or other natural material in a spiral.

The decor of this country wreath is made of pine cones painted with white acrylic paint, jute bows and figurines of Christmas trees and deer cut out of colored cardboard.

This Christmas wreath will be a great addition to a room decorated in a rustic style.

Eco-style Christmas wreath

Ecological interior design in new year holidays will be emphasized by a wreath made of vines.

This decoration can be made in just a few minutes. We will need:

  • pre-harvested vine;
  • Christmas tree branches;
  • cones;
  • acorns;
  • berries, small apples;
  • ribbons made of natural fabric.

Twist several vine rods into a circle shape. You can strengthen the structure by wrapping the rods with strong thread or an additional thin branch of vine.

Then use a glue gun to attach the decorative elements. These can be ordinary pine or spruce cones, sprigs of pine needles, acorns, rose hips, etc.

Of course, you need to take care of creating such a wreath in advance, in the fall, by preparing everything you need.

Beautiful bows from natural materials will perfectly complement the composition.

Using the example of several master classes, it is easy to see that making a Christmas wreath yourself at home is not so difficult. In order to enjoy your wreath for many years, you need to:

  • Pay great attention to the base of the wreath. A durable frame that does not lose shape when dropped or pressed is half the success.
  • Stock up on enough materials for decoration. Whatever you choose - twigs, pine cones or candies - it is better if there are a lot of them than not enough. It is important to stick with the concept to the end, without leaving any voids on the wreath.
  • Do not make a landfill out of the wreath. If you are not confident in your ability to beautifully combine a large number of details, it is better to use only three elements as a basis, for example, twigs, ribbons and balls or twigs, pine cones and beads.

By following these tips and using master classes, you will certainly be able to please yourself and your loved ones with beautiful and high-quality furniture that will decorate your door not only this year.

There is such a tradition - to decorate the house for Christmas with Christmas tree wreaths with candles. Although the tradition is not entirely Russian, it is very beautiful, so let’s support and make such a paper wreath with our own hands. Decorate it with confetti, ribbons and a paper candle.

Master class on how to make a paper wreath

To make a craft, we need: a disposable paper plate, colored paper light and dark green, red, white, yellow, scissors, glue.

Let's start by cutting out and removing the bottom of the plate; we only need the edges. Cut paper in two shades of green into strips 1 cm thick. Then glue the strips onto the plate and connect the edges.

Glue along the entire perimeter, alternating light and dark stripes. Then we cut the ends.

Let's make a candle. Cut out 2 strips of white paper. Place them on top of each other perpendicularly and glue the ends together. We first bend one ribbon onto the other, then the second onto the first, and so on, alternating until we get a candle of the required length. glue the ends together.

It’s better seen in the example of yellow and red stripes; by the way, the candle can also be made in different colors.

Cut out and glue the flame, decorate the wreath with a red bow, circles of red paper and cotton balls.
