Creating small masterpieces from ribbons is not as difficult as it seems at first glance. As with any type of needlework, it is necessary to show a certain perseverance and accuracy. In this master class we propose to master step by step the process of making a small flower brooch.

In this work we will need:

- nylon tape (preferably two-color) 4 cm wide, 60 cm long;
- strong thread in the color of the ribbon;

Getting started.

Our work will consist of three main stages. First we will make the core of the flower, then we will surround it with larger petals and finally we will attach the clasp.

The core of the flower.

Cut the ribbon 12 cm long.

Using a lighter, carefully singe the edges of the cuts.

Fold the tape lengthwise, focusing on the drawing. We sew the seam “forward with the needle”.

We tighten the tape to about half its length. We get a two-layer socket. Now you need to sew the edges on the wrong side. From the front we see the formed core.

Big petals.

To make airy petals that beautifully frame the core of the flower, we will need the rest of the nylon tape.

Do not forget to pre-singe the sections of the tape, otherwise the threads may fall off. We mark segments 8 cm long with pins. There should be exactly 6 of them.

According to the diagram shown in the figure, we sweep the tape. The pins act as a guide when creating petals of the same size.

Similarly, it is necessary to continue basting and creating the petals. This method allows the assembly to be evenly distributed. There is no need to tighten the tape very tightly.

Now we close the whole work into a ring, secure it with thread, and straighten the six petals.

Connection of two flower parts.

We imperceptibly sew the core to the large petals in a circle.

The flower is almost ready.

Stamens and clasp.

Using beads, we embroider the stamens. They can be done quite arbitrarily. The main thing is to fill the middle of the flower.

We used beads of two shades.

We attach a clasp on the wrong side. It is advisable to make a sufficient number of stitches so that the brooch holds securely.

Let's start with, perhaps, the simplest and fairly quick way to make roses from ribbons with your own hands. Once you master the technique of rolling roses from ribbon, you can make them while sitting in front of the TV. Depending on the width and length of the ribbon used, you can twist both small and lush buds. You can use a ribbon made of any material - organza, satin, cotton and even strips of linen fabric.

What you will need:

• Any ribbon - the longer and wider it is, the larger the bud will be. For a medium-sized rose, a 2.5 cm wide ribbon is enough.
• Thread and needle or hot glue gun.
• Scissors.

How to twist a rose from a ribbon:

Step 1. Straighten and place the tape in front of you, then bend one of the ends of the tape (either) along the bias, as shown in Fig. 1.

Step 2. Wrap the tip of the ribbon into a roll in two or three turns to form the core of the rose, fix its lower part with glue or simply sew it (see Fig. 2).

Step 3. Now we begin to form the rose petals. To do this, bend the tape again obliquely to the outer side (see Fig. 3) and wrap it around the core of the rose, holding (and, if desired, fixing with thread/glue) the entire workpiece from below (see Fig. 4).

Step 4. Next, continue to “build up” the layers of “petals” according to the scheme: bend the ribbon outward - wrap the bud - bend the ribbon outward - wrap the bud, etc. (see Fig. 5). Periodically fix the layers of tape at the base of the bud with glue or thread and a needle. Remember that the most important thing is not to let the ribbon unravel.

• Experienced decorators can twist a rose by fixing the layers of tape only a couple of times (at the beginning and at the end), but for beginners it is easier to stitch/glue the “petals” of a rose much more often.
• It’s more convenient to roll a rose by holding the base of the bud between your index and middle fingers, so that the flower seems to be lying in your palm.

Step 5. When the rose reaches the desired size, press the end of the ribbon to the base and tie/glue (Fig. 6).

• Practice curling roses from ribbons of different widths and lengths, experiment with the angle of the ribbon, the number of folds per layer, or the tightness of the twist to achieve the effect you like best. So, for example, a rose twisted from ribbon can be very multi-layered or, conversely, softer, have sharper corners or, conversely, rounded.

Master class 2. Realistic flowers from ribbons (peonies, roses or ranunculus)

Despite all the beauty and apparent complexity, even a beginner can make such flowers from ribbons with his own hands.

You will need:

• Candle or lighter.
• Ribbon 5 cm wide (for a medium peony) made of 100% polyester (it can be either rayon/satin or organza). Keep in mind that ribbons made from natural materials will not work. If you want to make a large and lush peony, then you can use either more petals and/or a ribbon 7-8 cm wide.
• Scissors.
• Needle and thread to match the ribbon.

How to make a peony with your own hands:

Step 1. Cut the ribbon into squares in the following sizes and numbers:

• 5×7 cm (6-10 pcs);
• 4×6 cm (6-10 pcs);
• 3×5 cm (6-10 pcs);
• 2×4 cm (6-10 pcs).

As a result, you should have a minimum of 24 and a maximum of 40 squares. The more petals you make, the more magnificent and larger the bud will be.

Step 2: Now arrange the groups of squares into piles. Then cut out petals from each stack (the shape is shown in the picture below). Keep in mind that accuracy is not important here, everything can be done by eye, without measurements and without using templates. The main thing is that you get petals of different sizes: very large - large - medium - small.

Step 3. It's time for the fun part - giving shape and volume to our petals. To do this, light a candle or lighter and, holding the edges of the petal at a distance of about 2 cm from the fire, melt them (but do not scorch them!). Rotate the petal smoothly but quickly. This way you need to process all your workpieces.

• If you want the petal to become more rounded, hold it over the fire a little longer, but do not reduce the distance from the fire. However, sometimes petals slightly blackened by fire look quite organic.

Step 4. Take one of the smallest petals, roll it into a roll and make a couple of stitches in its lower part to secure it. You now have the core of your flower.

Step 5. Attach the second small petal and secure it with a couple of stitches. Continue attaching the petals one after another, maintaining a checkerboard pattern. When you are done with the small petals, start attaching the middle petals, then the larger ones, and finally the largest ones.

What you will need:

• Any tape;
• Beads;
• Scissors;
• Hot glue gun.

How to make a flower from ribbon:

Step 1. Cut out a small circle with a diameter of about 5 cm from cardboard or thick paper. This circle will become the base of your flower and will be hidden under the petals, so it does not need to be cut out carefully.

Step 2: Start gluing the tape to the top edge of the circle, creating a pleat as shown in the photo below.

Step 3: Continue applying the tape in a spiral pattern in 3 or more layers. When you reach the center, cut off the excess tape, fold the end under, and carefully glue it in place.

Step 4: Place a large dot of hot glue in the center of the flower and quickly fill it with beads.

What you will need:

• A wave braid of medium width and a length of 50-60 cm (for one rose) or two ribbons of different colors of the same width, 25-30 cm long (if you want to make a two-color rose). However, the length can be longer or shorter, it depends on what size you want to make the bud.
• Scissors.
• Sewing machine.
• Threads with a needle to match the braid.

Step 1. Take two wave braids of the same length and intertwine them together as shown in the photo. Before you start weaving, secure the two ribbons with some kind of clamp so that they do not unravel.

Step 2: Machine stitch along the edge of your piece to secure the weave.

If you don't have a machine, it doesn't matter. Just run large stitches along the entire length of the braid.

Step 3. To make the flower, simply start folding the ribbon at one end, securing the layers with hot glue in some places.

Step 4: When you're done, you should have a bud that looks something like this. Simply tuck the remaining end of the braid under the flower and secure it with glue.

Step 5. Glue a small circle of felt, cardboard or thick fabric to the base. In the future, you can glue anything to this base - from a hairpin to a ring.

Step 6. Have you noticed that all the petals of our flower are closed? In this form, it looks more like a peony or ranunculus. If you want the flower to become a rose, simply spread each petal outward one by one.

Master class 5. Poinsettia with leaves

How to make a poinsettia from ribbons:

Step 1. Cut three pieces of equal length from the ribbon. How long should the segments be? It depends on what size flower you need. If you want to make a flower with a diameter of 12 cm, then the segments should be exactly this length.

Step 2. Give the resulting rectangles a diamond shape. You can do this in the following way: stack the pieces on top of each other, fold the stack in half, then give the resulting square a triangle shape by cutting off the excess on the sides. Voila, you've got diamonds!

Step 3. Pinch each diamond in the middle and tie the folds with thread (you can do a couple of stitches) or jewelry wire.

Step 4. Place all three pieces next to each other, then tie them with thread or jewelry wire to create a flower. Adjust the petals if necessary.

Step 5. Glue several stamen beads into the center of the flower.

Step 6. Now let's work on the leaves. Cut two lengths of 6-9 cm from the green ribbon (the length of the pieces should be approximately three times the width of your green ribbon). Place one of the rectangles on the table, wrong side up. Bend its right side downwards along the bias so that the workpiece takes on an L-shape (see photo). Now fold your letter G in half to create a house-shaped piece with a roof. Gather the bottom of the “house” with a couple of stitches or glue.

Step 7. Now the leaves can be glued/sewn to the back of the poinsettia, to a felt round base (if you have one) or directly to a decorative object (headband, pillow, etc.).

Master class 6. Lace ribbon flower

And finally, we present another express method for making a simple but beautiful flower with your own hands. The principle of operation in this technique is similar to that described in MK No. 3, but instead of glue, a thread with a needle is used to fix the craft, and instead of a satin ribbon, a lace ribbon is used. However, you can use any other one. Lace flowers make wonderful brooches and hair clips.

1. Make a petal pattern. You can see the dimensions from the images (5 cm high, 2.5 cm wide). The width at the base is no more than 2.5 cells.

2. Since the width of the tape is 5 cm, the petal should have a slightly smaller height. Fold in half and cut out the pattern.

3. Place the pattern on the tape and cut out the shape. Cut off the top edge of the ribbon; you may have to lower the pattern. It is worth noting that the base of the petal has an edging.

4. You need to cut out petals from the ribbon. You can fold the ribbon and cut out several petals at once. For convenience, you can fasten the tape with office clips.

5. Reduce the pattern by 0.5 cm on all sides except the base.

You can make a new pattern.

You should end up with 3 rows of petals, which means you need to prepare 3 patterns of different sizes.

DIY ribbon rose

Small flowers, animals and various fabric figures always look very interesting and unusual. For many girls and women, roses are their favorite flowers. However, you can not only grow them in the garden or buy them in a store, but also make them yourself. Small roses made from braid will look cute, light and elegant, and will also serve as simple, pleasant home decorations that will create a calm, cozy atmosphere. In addition, such cute artificial flowers have another pleasant plus - this is a fairly economical option, since large expenses are not required.

To make a large rose you will need about 50 cm of zig-zag braid, also called snake and bindweed, and for a smaller flower about 45 cm, a thin needle, scissors, matches or a lighter to singe the edges of the braid, and glue, but be sure to check that so that it securely glues the tape. Another important and necessary detail is the threads, which must be the same color as the braid.

So, first, we need to fold the long braid in half.

Then, carefully weave the halves of the braid together (without cutting!). You need to do this from start to finish and try to get it smooth.

Afterwards, both ends of the resulting ribbon must be cut and carefully set on fire so that the edges of the fabric do not crumble or deteriorate.

Now we twist the resulting ribbon into a bud of the future rose and fasten it with a thread from below so that it is not visible from the other side. That's why the threads should be the same color as the braid: then the end result will look neater and more pleasant.

Well, the final touch - straighten the flower petals, bending the very first ones a little.

That's all: a simple but beautiful rose, made by yourself, is ready.

Satin ribbon flower

We present a step-by-step instruction-master class for making a flower from a satin ribbon yourself.

To begin with, take a ribbon of any color about 4 cm wide in your hands, and then cut off 5 pieces about 7.5 cm long and 5 pieces 9 cm long from it, while not forgetting to lightly singe the edges.

Now we fold one of the small pieces of tape in half, aligning the edges, and sew small neat stitches along the cuts, leaving a small distance of 2-3 mm. It is advisable to match the thread to the color of the ribbon.

Pull the stitched piece as tightly as possible.

Similarly, we collect larger pieces into a five-leaf clover. Now we glue the resulting flowers together, and as the center we sew or glue a beautiful button or bead - whatever you like best.

Sew a small circle of felt on the wrong side. You can also use a circle made of cardboard or a plastic bottle, having previously covered it with fabric to match the color.

A satin ribbon flower can be used to make elastic bands, brooches, headbands and other items of fittings and accessories.

Curly braid flower

In addition to roses, you can make another flower yourself, for example, one that looks like a daisy. It can be attached to hairpins and elastic bands, and then you will get an excellent hair decoration. And, despite the fact that now store shelves are full of various accessories, jewelry is much more pleasant to wear if it is made with soul and love with your own hands.

For this wonderful flower, like for a rose, you will need a zigzag braid, a thin needle (it’s even better if it is long - it’s easier to sew with it), good glue or a glue gun, and most importantly, threads that match the color of the braid. Perhaps the last requirement should be memorized, since it is necessary for any needlework, be it sewing a dress or making a small decoration.

Let's start the work by making a circle from the braid of the required length, and carefully sew the ends together with a single-color thread.

Now we work with the inside of the ribbon circle. You need to sew the “hills” of braid (it resembles a wave, so it kind of “hills”) loosely with wide stitches so that you can later, when we return to the beginning, pull them together.

You will get a kind of round “accordion”.

This “accordion” will need to be glued to the hairpin.

To do this, you will need to first attach a piece of paper to the flat end of the hairpin, and then apply glue to it. In this case, the flower will stick more firmly and will hold on much better.

All that remains is to add a small “core” of the flower on top. This could be a custom-sized button or matching light rhinestones.

The template will be useful to us for creating a flower. We advise you to cut it out of cardboard or any plastic packaging in the shape of a random polygon. However, take into account the diameter and number of corners, make sure that the purchased ribbon is enough for decoration.

Now you can start the main work on the bow. We pull one end of our ribbon through the hole cut in the center of the template, and begin to braid each corner so that each time the ribbon passes through the center. If you pass the ribbon in a circle in 2-3 layers, the flower will turn out to be very unique and multi-layered. To avoid confusion in the order in which the tape passes through the corners, they can be pre-numbered.

Be sure to make sure that the tip of the tape does not slip into the hole in the template and does not move arbitrarily to the sides. To do this, hold the ribbon while you wrap it around the corner, and then use a needle and thread to make a few stitches at the base. Then, without breaking the thread, carefully remove the flower from the pattern and trim the rest of the ribbon, lightly singeing the ends with fire.

Now it is advisable to add rhinestones, buttons or beads to the center of the resulting decoration - both for beauty and to hide the stitches holding the ribbon together. Don't forget to straighten the petals themselves! The decoration can be of a specific tone or multi-colored, by combining and sewing several bows together. It’s no secret that all the girls absolutely love to do a variety of hairstyles for themselves and decorate the resulting “masterpieces” in every possible way. And on beautiful, shiny and silky hair of any length, a stylish accessory - be it a hairpin with a flower or a headband decorated with beads and rhinestones - will look incredibly beautiful. And who said that decoration for your braids can only be bought in specialized stores? Make them yourself, based on your own desires and preferences!

Of course, stores are always filled with shiny and attractive accessories of all kinds that perfectly complement the look, but homemade jewelry will be much more pleasant for you to wear. And if you use your imagination, it will look much more original and certainly unique. A flower can be made from anything - use leftover organza, mesh or satin ribbon, tulle - whatever you have on hand!

In this case, you will need a ribbon 2-3 cm wide, scissors, glue (hot glue is also possible), a lighter, matches or a candle to singe the edges, buttons, beads or rhinestones - whatever you want, and a base for decoration - for example a hairpin or rubber band. Now have a little patience.

Cut the ribbon into several pieces of 5 cm each. There should be at least fifty of them, and the more magnificent you want the flower, the more pieces you will need. Don't forget to cut the top edges into a tapered shape, giving them the appearance of petals. The edges and bottom of the petal must be scorched with fire, but not too much, so as not to spoil the ribbon.

Wrap the remaining piece of tape around a small circle of cardboard or plastic - this will be the base. Then carefully glue the petals one by one, squeezing them at the base, placing them from the edge to the middle. The diameter of the flower will depend on the width of the circle you choose.

The core can be decorated with any fittings that you like. At the final stage, attach the resulting dahlia to a hairpin or headband using glue.

DIY carnation flower

Carnations are a favorite among florists due to their unique sweet scent. The carnation flower has also been and remains one of the most favorite decorations for girls and women of any age. It is quite possible to make such an accessory yourself with just a little diligence and imagination. A flower made from a silk ribbon folded on the bias can easily be given a “live” and natural look using a wide straight stitch. As an example, a carnation can be made using a silk ribbon of a light cream shade, 2-3 cm wide and half a meter to a meter long - depending on the intended splendor of the future flower.

First, let's give the edges of the carnation the proper textured look. Gently fluff one of the edges of the ribbon with your fingers or a needle, and on the other side, pass a straight line, stepping back from the edge of the ribbon about 2 mm. Tighten the tape, but not all the way, but so that you get an “accordion” 2-3 cm wide and secure with a knot.

Now we twist the gathered piece of tape inwards like a “snail”. We tighten the base of the assembly tightly with thread and secure it. We straighten the upper edge of the resulting bud, giving it the shape of a carnation with our fingers.

Try dipping the finished flower (only the very edge) into fabric paint or a natural dye such as tea leaves, red wine or onion skins - you will get an uneven color effect typical of garden carnations. Greater waviness and mobility can be given to the petals if the ribbon for the product is cut on the bias.

The next step is to plant the bud on the stem. To do this, you will need thick wire - painted or covered with braid or corrugated paper (we overlap a strip of fabric or paper in a spiral). The stem is inserted into the stretched base and additionally fixed with a drop of glue. The length of the stem depends on the end goal - longer for a bouquet, shorter for a small boutonniere or threading into a buttonhole.

Perhaps the first flower will take you quite a lot of time, but once you get the hang of it and get the hang of it, you will create exclusive designer jewelry that will attract attention and cause admiration.

Very original products are created from wavy braid. You will need a needle and thread, scissors, one wave braid 50 cm long or two 30 cm long (preferable). First of all, the two sections are intertwined, like curls in a braid. This blank is sewn on a machine. Then a bud is made: the braid is rolled up and secured with glue in several places, preferably once for each turn. The end is tucked in and also fixed with glue. In this form, the product will imitate a peony, and if you turn out the petals, it will resemble a rose. A very original non-standard product will be made from zigzag braid. A segment with 20 bends is required. The ends of the fragment are sewn together. For this, an allowance is left in advance. Then, using a thread, you need to sew 10 elements (one at a time). Then this ring is assembled into a compact circle and secured. Then it is made flat, and as a result all the petals will be directed clockwise or counterclockwise.

They are attached to the end of the lace for a while. Next, you will need a second needle and thread: it is sewn to the fleece circle in a spiral. It is necessary to ensure that the lace “looks” face up. The core of the flower is decorated to your taste: with buttons or beads. From the remaining lace fabric you can make a mini-bud and sew it to the central part of the product. The first thread is now secured and cut - the job is complete.
